On Friday night, East showed off all that hard work.

Taking on Morristown West in the 69制片厂制作传媒播 Kickoff Classic, the 69制片厂制作传媒楥anes came out and took it to the Trojans from the opening snap.

They limited the penalties, they won the turnover battle and, most importantly, they took a 26-14 win over West.

69制片厂制作传媒淚t was rough last year,69制片厂制作传媒� Kuykendall said. 69制片厂制作传媒淣ot even really for me but to see those kids drug through the mud. We returned 21 guys, our seniors, and they got to kick off the season the right way. I am just so happy for these kids. They deserve it.69制片厂制作传媒�

The win snaps a three-game win streak for Morristown West over Morristown East. That stat means a lot to everyone at Morristown East, but especially those seniors who were 0-3 against the Trojans coming in.

69制片厂制作传媒淭his game is what you look forward to. Even when it69制片厂制作传媒檚 over, you still want to go back and play it again. This game means the world to everybody. This is the biggest game in town and means so much.69制片厂制作传媒�

Brannan was one of many stars for Morristown East on Friday night. Playing almost the entire game both ways, Brannan had a touchdown reception, an interception and had countless tackles for the 69制片厂制作传媒楥anes defense.

69制片厂制作传媒淗e probably played 85 snaps tonight,69制片厂制作传媒� Kuykendall said. 69制片厂制作传媒淭he kid69制片厂制作传媒檚 just kept balling. He69制片厂制作传媒檚 a warrior and doesn69制片厂制作传媒檛 want to come off the field. He had some tough catches and took some big hits, but he just kept balling. I can69制片厂制作传媒檛 say enough about him. He69制片厂制作传媒檚 a senior, and I69制片厂制作传媒檓 really proud of him.69制片厂制作传媒�

However, Brannan wasn69制片厂制作传媒檛 the only standout for East. Caleb Billings was great at quarterback, throwing for 175 yards and three touchdowns, Jason West and Eli Davis ran hard and caught passes when they needed to and Isaac Greene made two acrobatic catches to give East momentum late in the first half.

69制片厂制作传媒淲e were really locked in and focused on the details,69制片厂制作传媒� Kuykendall said. 69制片厂制作传媒淚 could kind of tell on Thursday morning that it felt different from our kids. It showed tonight with our attention to detail. We just went out and executed. It didn69制片厂制作传媒檛 look pretty all the time, but we got it done.69制片厂制作传媒�

For Morristown West, penalties played a huge part in the game as they were penalized nine times for 108 yards. That, along with a lack of execution at times and three turnovers, were deciding factors in the outcome of the game.

69制片厂制作传媒淚 want to give Coach K and his staff credit, they played very hard tonight and capitalized on our mistakes,69制片厂制作传媒� Morristown West coach Alvin Sanders said. 69制片厂制作传媒淥ne thing we felt we had to do was take care of the football and win the turnover battle. We didn69制片厂制作传媒檛 do that and were behind the sticks all night. We would have a penalty and it would take us out of our rhythm. Defense played lights out, they just played too many snaps in the first half and got worn down. It all comes back to me, and I have to put them in a better position to win.69制片厂制作传媒�

West rotated quarterbacks during the game, as TJ Walthall and Riley McClellan each saw time. The duo combined to go 11-24 for 65 yards and an interception.

69制片厂制作传媒淭hey need to go play and execute the call,69制片厂制作传媒� Sanders said about what he wants to see from his quarterbacks next week. 69制片厂制作传媒淭hey can69制片厂制作传媒檛 play timid. At times, they played very well. But at times, we looked unsure. We have to have one of those guys take command of this thing and take us to the promised land.69制片厂制作传媒�

Cam Richards ran for 99 yards and a touchdown for West, while Walthall had a 36-yard score.

Following a punt by East that backed West up inside their own 15, the Hurricanes got their first break of the game as a backwards pass was recovered by East at the West 10-yard line. East capitalized as Billings hit Brannan for an 8-yard score to make it 6-0.

West fumbled again on their next drive deep in East territory, but finally got on the board early in the second quarter. The Trojans took advantage of a short punt to the East 40 and moved quickly, the final play of the drive being an 11-yard touchdown run by Richards that put West up 7-6.

The lead was short-lived, though. Billings completed an 18-yard pass to Greene, before Jason West ran for 39 yards in three plays, the third play being a 14-yard touchdown run. The extra point was good, and East led 13-6.

East would strike one more time in the half, thanks to Greene. Greene made an unbelievable 47-yard catch down the sideline to get East to the 10-yard line and then caught a lob in the corner of the end zone on the very next play to give the 69制片厂制作传媒楥anes a 19-7 lead at the break.

Billings was money in the first half for East, throwing for 100 yards and the two scores.

Despite the successful first half from East, West came out to start the second half and sent a message. The Trojans went 65 yards in less than two minutes, and Walthall broke free down the sideline for a 23-yard score to cut the lead to 19-14.

69制片厂制作传媒淲e played Trojan football on that drive,69制片厂制作传媒� Sanders said. 69制片厂制作传媒淲e settled down. We played our brand of football and moved it.69制片厂制作传媒�

However, that was as close as West would get. Following a turnover on downs from the Trojans, East faced third-and-two from the West 38. Billings dropped back and found Davis alone down the middle of the field. Davis bobbled the pass for multiple seconds but made the catch and scurried into the end zone to make it 26-14.

69制片厂制作传媒淗ow about that catch from Eli Davis?69制片厂制作传媒� Kuykendall asked. 69制片厂制作传媒淗e really struggled to catch the ball last year, but came up with an unreal catch late in the game. Couldn69制片厂制作传媒檛 be happier for him.69制片厂制作传媒�

That touchdown from Davis was the final of the game, as East held time and time again on defense and took the win.

Both teams will be on the road next week. Morristown East will play at Hardin Valley, while Morristown West will travel to Elizabethton.
