Grainger Schools announces schedule adjustments
Grainger County Schools announced Thursday an adjustment in school schedules due to the recent extreme cold weather. The system has attended only seven days since returning from Christmas Break earlier this month.
Thursday, Feb. 13 will now be a regular school day for all students. That day was originally an early dismissal day for parent-teacher conferences. The parent-teacher conferences and early dismissal has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 20.
Students will also have a regular school day on Friday, Feb. 14 instead of a staff development day. The staff development day was rescheduled for Friday, March 21.
Spring Break will be held as scheduled March 24-28.
UETHDA announces Energy Assistance Outreach for February
One in Four households struggle with high energy burdens.
The Low-Income 69制片厂制作传媒 Energy Assistance Program is a federally funded program that helps low-income households with their home energy bills. The Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency69制片厂制作传媒檚 LIHEAP Outreach RV will be throughout the Lakeway Area helping those needing assistance.
Nationwide, LIHEAP provides energy assistance to roughly 6.7 million households. This is a one-time benefit between October 1, 2024 and September 30, 2025. For those who qualify, a payment is sent directly to the recipient69制片厂制作传媒檚 utility company and is credited to their bill. Payments can take up to 90 days to be applied.
Please continue to pay your bill. Priority is given to the low-income, energy burdened, disabled, elderly, homes with young children under 6, veterans, and large households.
The LIHEAP Outreach RV will be at the following locations in February:
Feb. 5 -- Food City, located at 509 Asheville Highway in Greeneville from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Feb. 6 69制片厂制作传媒 Holston Electric Cooperative, located at 219 South Central Avenue in Church Hill from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Feb. 13 69制片厂制作传媒 Hope Helps Allandale, located at 4050 West Stone Drive in Kingsport from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Feb. 18 69制片厂制作传媒 Church Hill Medical Mission Clinic, located at 401 Richmond Street in Church Hill from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Feb. 24 69制片厂制作传媒 Food City, located at 2755 East Andrew Johnson Highway in Greeneville from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

UETHDA assures public of continued services
After it was reported earlier this week that a pause would be placed on all federally funded programs, the Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency assured the public Wednesday that none of its programs or services are impacted by this funding pause.
Although several of UETHDA69制片厂制作传媒檚 programs, including Head Start, Energy Assistance and Rental Assistance are federally funded, UETHDA received official confirmation that these services will continue without interruption. There will be no disruption to the programs and services UETHDA provides to the community. UETHDA is grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the residents of Northeast Tennessee and remains committed to providing essential programs and services to those in need.

Memorials to M-H Library given in memory of Tilson

Timothy Hill to chair House Flood Relief Committee
NASHVILLE 69制片厂制作传媒 One of Hawkins County69制片厂制作传媒檚 state representatives will be serving as chair of a legislative flood relief committee in the State House.
State Rep. Timothy Hill, (R-Blountville), was appointed by House Speaker Cameron Sexton, (R-Crossville), to serve as chair of the House Flood Relief Committee for the First Extraordinary Session of the 114th Tennessee General Assembly.
The Flood Relief Committee will be tasked with reviewing legislation related to relief for areas of East Tennessee that were devastated by Hurricane Helene, in addition to helping the entire state prepare for future disasters.

In Gov. Bill Lee69制片厂制作传媒檚 call for a special session, he introduced a $450 million legislative package to assist the region through disaster relief funds, local loan interest management assistance, a response and recovery fund and $20 million to rebuild Hampton High School in Carter County.
Hill was also appointed to serve on the Finance Committee and Calendar and Rules Committee for the Extraordinary Session.
Hill represents House District 3, which includes Johnson and parts of Carter, Hawkins and Sullivan counties.
