Lakeway Christian Academy wrestlers took the state title Saturday.
The Lakeway wrestling dominance continued on Saturday afternoon as it repeated as TSSAA Division II A-AA state champions with a 51-30 rout of Chattanooga Christian.
The Lions have now competed in four straight state championships and have only dropped one (2023). They won their first in 2022 with another win over Chattanooga Christian
Lakeway finished the dual season 16-2.
The Lions quickly built a 12-0 lead after Cameron Helton (144 weight) and Trenton Casto (150) both secured pins.
Chattanooga Christian then made up some ground to make it 16-12 before Jay Eversole (190) helped Lakeway regain control with a pin to make it 22-12.
Chattanooga Christian took a brief lead after a Lakeway forfeit in the 285 class, but a forfeit in the 106 class put Lakeway back on top at 28-24.
Pins from Cade Riddle (113), Luke Kibelbek (126), Cole Gumlick (132) and Kaden Dressel (138) pins sealed the deal for the Lions.
The TSSAA traditional State Wrestling Tournaments begin on Feb. 21-22 at the Expo Center in Franklin.
