Organizers of the Fur Ball are excited that a live band will be part of the Noah69制片厂制作传媒檚 Arc no-kill shelter69制片厂制作传媒檚 fundraiser revamp. The last time the fundraiser was held was in 2019.

69制片厂制作传媒淭he pandemic put a halt to it,69制片厂制作传媒� Martha Lionberger, Noah69制片厂制作传媒檚 Arc board member, said. 69制片厂制作传媒淲e also lost a venue when it changed hands. The Fur Ball has always been successful for us, so we met and decided, 69制片厂制作传媒楲et69制片厂制作传媒檚 go ahead and revive it.69制片厂制作传媒� We held it for three years at an outdoor venue. We always held it August and weather was a concern. So we decided to give The Landing a go. They69制片厂制作传媒檝e been really good to work with. We69制片厂制作传媒檙e looking forward to taking it in a different direction.69制片厂制作传媒�

The decision to change up the fundraiser is a gamble, but one worth taking for the nonprofit.

69制片厂制作传媒淚t is absolutely a big fundraiser for us, the second largest of the year,69制片厂制作传媒� Lionberger said. 69制片厂制作传媒淎nd of course we always need money to take care of the babies.69制片厂制作传媒�

In addition to a dinner provided by the Landing staff 69制片厂制作传媒� each ticket provides a choice from three available entrees 69制片厂制作传媒� and the live band, the evening will include a voluminous silent auction.

Offerings will include a trip to a Smokies game, with seating in one of the suites, tickets to the Ripley69制片厂制作传媒檚 Aquarium in Gatlinburg and baskets with items from local businesses, along with gift certificates, baseball memorabilia and a handmade quilt.

69制片厂制作传媒淥ur local businesses have been really supportive,69制片厂制作传媒� Lionberger said.

A special auction item will be a handcrafted bench, although as of press time, the artist had not yet been commissioned.

69制片厂制作传媒淚t69制片厂制作传媒檚 my husband, Lionberger explained. 69制片厂制作传媒淚69制片厂制作传媒檒l tell him tonight.69制片厂制作传媒�

The need for the return of The Fur Ball can be explained by the no-kill shelter69制片厂制作传媒檚 continued growth.

Lionberger has volunteered since 1997, with her focus remaining on dogs throughout the years 69制片厂制作传媒� 69制片厂制作传媒淭here were maybe 30 dogs, along with cats, too, back then,69制片厂制作传媒� she said.

69制片厂制作传媒淣ow we have around 40 runs that may have one, two or three dogs, just depending,69制片厂制作传媒� she said. 69制片厂制作传媒淲e are also doing transport now; we are affiliated with a group that does that. And we also do many local adoptions. They turn over quickly now, in the ball park of 1,500 dogs per year.69制片厂制作传媒�

The transports take a number of dogs and cats that have been surrendered to Noah69制片厂制作传媒檚 Arc to the northeast part of the country.

69制片厂制作传媒淲e travel a lot to New York City and Connecticut,69制片厂制作传媒� Lionberger said. 69制片厂制作传媒淭hey have really strict spay and neuter laws up there, so they just don69制片厂制作传媒檛 have the dogs available. In Connecticut, for example, if you are out walking your dog with no tags, or proof that he/she has been spayed or neutered, it69制片厂制作传媒檚 an automatic $400 fine. They do have shelters, but they don69制片厂制作传媒檛 have the variety of dogs that we have. It69制片厂制作传媒檚 unbelievable the amount of dogs and cats that we get from shelters. We get a lot of pure breeds as well.69制片厂制作传媒�

Before any Noah69制片厂制作传媒檚 Arc dog or cat is eligible for transport, they are listed on the Petfinder website to encourage local adoptions first.

There is a caveat regarding Noah69制片厂制作传媒檚 Arc adoptions and transports.

69制片厂制作传媒淲ith us being a no-kill shelter, if someone were to adopt and it didn69制片厂制作传媒檛 work out, we would take them back. The transport dogs are chipped back to us, so if they are dropped off at any shelter, we will get the call. We brought one back from Michigan several years ago,69制片厂制作传媒� Lionberger said.

A mission of the shelter, one which requires the help of its volunteers, is trapping and spaying and/or neutering feral cats in the local area.

69制片厂制作传媒淭hat69制片厂制作传媒檚 a real big emphasis for us,69制片厂制作传媒� Lionberger said. 69制片厂制作传媒淚t69制片厂制作传媒檚 important to our founder Susan Widener, who is quite the dog and cat whisperer.69制片厂制作传媒�

Cats can have quite a few litters over their lifetime and there are continued reports of colonies of feral cats that are being fed regularly by humans. After Noah69制片厂制作传媒檚 Arc volunteers trap and spray/neuter the cats, they are returned to the outdoor place they were found.

Tickets are still available for the Aug 10 fundraiser, however reservations must be made to organizers by Friday, Aug. 2. The cost is $100 per person – each ticket includes two drinks. They can be purchased by calling 423-586-2293 or by emailing rainingkatsndogz@yahoo.com. Tables for 8 are available for $900. Cocktails and appetizers will be served on the patio on the main floor of the Landing at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. prepared by the venue’s chef.

The Matt Byrd Band will begin playing at 8 p.m.

In September of 2022 the band broke ground on their first album. Eight Months later, Movin69制片厂制作传媒� On was released to the public in April of 2023. The album has garnered a collective 30,000 streams across platforms from 40000-plus listeners. Notable performances include the Capitol Theatre of Greeneville in 2022, 2023 - and on Saturday, July 27, 2024 - along with a number of other Lakeway Area venues.
