Anita (Carpenter) Wilder quietly passed and went to her heavenly home on January 9, 2025.
The younger daughter of Jay and Kate (Skelton) Carpenter, Anita was born on December 11, 1940 and spent the majority of her life in the foothills of east Tennessee, settling permanently in Morristown in 1978.聽 Working in the family69制片厂制作传媒檚 country store in Carter69制片厂制作传媒檚 Valley and later on their cattle farm in St. Clair, she developed a strong work ethic at an early age that carried on throughout her life.聽 Anita graduated from Bulls Gap High School in 1958 where she was class Salutatorian, played on the girls basketball team, was a cheerleader, and a member of several school clubs and organizations. Anita was also an accomplished pianist, serving Mt. Zion Baptist Church in that capacity for many years.聽聽 Even during retirement, she would begin her days quietly playing hymns on the piano in her living room.
Anita received a diploma from Knoxville Business College, and after a brief hiatus to start her family, dedicated her working life to education joining the Morristown City School System in 1972, which later became a part of the Hamblen County Department of Education. During her 46-year career, Anita provided administrative support to numerous Superintendents and Senior Administrators who learned no task was too big or too small for her to handle. She was a joy to her colleagues who appreciated her smiling face, impeccable appearance, eagerness to help, and endless supply of hugs.聽
As fulfilling as her career in education, Anita69制片厂制作传媒檚 highest priority was her relationship with God.聽 She was a proud member of First Baptist Church of Morristown where she enjoyed worship and fellowship in various groups over the years.聽 She also enjoyed regular lunch outings with her colleagues as well as the 69制片厂制作传媒淪t. Clair girls69制片厂制作传媒, a group of childhood friends that remained in touch ever since.聽 Regular visits to the family farm provided a sense of peace over the years as she sat on the front porch swing overlooking the cattle grazing in the fields. Truly her happy place.
Anita was also an avid fan of University of Tennessee athletics.聽 Regardless of the sport, she enjoyed cheering on the Vols and Lady Vols, often texting during games with friends and family. Her greatest pride was reserved for her 69制片厂制作传媒渂oys69制片厂制作传媒 and their families. Anita is survived by sons, Mike (Anna) and Brent (Tanya), and four grandchildren, Caroline, Grace, Knox and Luke.
Visitation with be held from 2:00-4:00 on Sunday, January 19 at Mayes Funeral 69制片厂制作传媒 444 W Main St, Morristown, TN 37814.
