The Hawkins County Rescue Squad was recently awarded a $12,007.24 Emergency Medical Services Grant from Tennessee Highway Safety Office.
The Emergency Medical Services Grant is a program that focus on first responders having the necessary skills and equipment to meet the needs of crash victims, with an emphasis on enhancing patient survival rate during the first 60 minutes following a traumatic injury.
This grant program is provided to agencies serving rural counties and that rank in the top 65 Tennessee counties for overall crashes. The Emergency Medical Services Grant is part of several grant programs that THSO provides agencies which are designed to reduce the number of fatalities, injuries and related economic losses resulting from traffic crashes on Tennessee69制片厂制作传媒檚 roadways.
HCRS utilized the grant funding for this award to purchase one Hurst R421E2 Hydraulic Ram Package (battery operated), six Streamlight Vulvan 180 Flashlights with Vehicle Mounting System, and six Streamlight Stinger Flashlights with chargers and traffic wands.
The total cost for the equipment purchased was $12,026.00 with the difference being paid from HCRS69制片厂制作传媒檚 General Fund. Being able to purchase this much needed equipment for the agency, allows HCRS to have three complete sets of battery operated hydraulic extrication tools and LED rechargeable flashlights on every HCRS vehicle.
