The Tennessee State Museum is administering seven grant awards to museums throughout the state, it was announced Tuesday. Five of those sites are in the Lakeway Area.
The sites include $73,376 to Russellville69制片厂制作传媒檚 Lakeway Civil War Preservation for the Longstreet Museum; The Culture and Preservation Society of Del Rio in Cocke County with a $68,079 grant; Tusculum University will receive $33,000 for the Samuel Doak House; Friends of The Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park in Greene County will receive $135,880; and the Earnest Fort House in Greene County will receive $25,740.
The Tennessee General Assembly made available $5 million in funding from the 2024-2025 Appropriations Act, 69制片厂制作传媒渇or the sole purpose of providing grants to museums with a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or affiliated with a governmental entity for capital maintenance and improvements.69制片厂制作传媒
After the devastation from Hurricane Helene, some funding was earmarked specifically to support institutions in those counties affected by the storm. They include Claiborne, Grainger, Hamblen, Hancock, Jefferson, Sevier, Cocke, Greene, Washington, Hawkins, Unicoi, Carter, Sullivan, and Johnson counties.
Mike Beck, of the Longstreet Museum in Russellville, feels fortunate that the museum received the grant.

I just feel like we69制片厂制作传媒檙e blessed to receive it because we69制片厂制作传媒檙e doing the right thing by historical educational tourism.69制片厂制作传媒
The grant will be used for long-needed maintenance and upkeep of the home, as well as possible building of additional interpretive displays, Beck said.
