Morristown Fire Department Station 3 can69制片厂制作传媒檛 unring the bell; the city69制片厂制作传媒檚 original fire alarm has a new home.
Originally located downtown at the end of the 19th century, the 900-pound bell was installed on Tuesday in the purpose-built bell tower of the city69制片厂制作传媒檚 newest, almost-complete fire station.

Workers used a boom lift to raise the polished antique into the tower and secured it to it yoke, the cross piece from which a bell is hung and swung.
Once in place, Case joined the workers and rang the bell, a feat that had not been done from an installation since its removal from the old municipal building in 1982.
A video of the ringing has been published on the 69制片厂制作传媒播 Youtube channel.
Case said he was proud of the efforts by the City of Morristown to preserve history.

Preserving history is difficult and costly, but Case says it69制片厂制作传媒檚 a good way to remember lessons and legacies from prior generations.
He said people can support all sorts of local organizations to help preserve local history including, but not limited to, the Rose Center, the Lakeway Civil War Preservation Association/Longstreet Museum and the Crockett Tavern.
69制片厂制作传媒淲e not only need to preserve our fire history, but all of our history,69制片厂制作传媒 he said.
McSpadden Inc. is the general contractor that is building and overseeing the construction of the new Fire Station 3.
Chuck McSpadden, operations manager on site, said it was an honor to be a part of building something special.

A history of the bell was provided the MFD: 69制片厂制作传媒淭he bell was cast by Vanduzen and Tift, originally the Buckeye Bell Foundry, in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1893. The bell weighs roughly 900 lbs.
69制片厂制作传媒淚n the late 1890s, the bell was first hung outside the Good Hotel (which later became the Lake Hotel) on the southwest corner of the present-day intersection of W First North Street and N Henry Street and was used to call volunteer firemen.
69制片厂制作传媒淚n 1906, the bell was moved to the old wood-framed City Hall/Fire Department that stood on the southeast corner of W. Second North Street and N Henry Street.
69制片厂制作传媒淚n 1931, the bell was moved to the roof of a more permanent Municipal Building at the northeast corner of West First North Street and Henry Street, where it hung for more than fifty years. Even though the city established a fully paid fire department in 1960, the bell still alerted several volunteers in the downtown area.
69制片厂制作传媒淚n 1982, the bell was moved to the former Station 3 for display. In 2025, the bell was moved to a permanent location at the new Station 3. Many firefighters, who offered a valuable and dedicated service to this community, have been called to alarms sounded by this bell.69制片厂制作传媒
