After a 1-in-5,000-year flood that saw flood levels nearly 10-feet higher than the previous record, the Tennessee Valley Authority has begun repairs on the Nolichucky Dam.
Late Friday, September 27, the TVA announced a Condition Red at the dam and warned of imminent failure. The National Weather Service announced Flash Flood Warnings and downstream evacuations were ordered.
The dam held.
TVA officials tested it and announced that it was stable.
Now, officials say the TVA is at work to repair and futher stabilize the dam.听
