The East Tennessee Development District recently honored Hamblen County for its initiative to improve the situation involving the Hamblen County Justice Center.
At a recent meeting, the ETDD recognized Hamblen County for building an updated Justice Center, including expanded housing for county inmates.
Interim County Mayor Chris Cutshaw explained about the honor.
69制片厂制作传媒淢ain thing that the ETDD recognized was the success with design and construction of the Justice Center project,69制片厂制作传媒 Cutshaw said. 69制片厂制作传媒淭hey felt it was worthy to bring to the forefront and emphasize the need for a new system and an updated facility in our county.
69制片厂制作传媒淗amblen County rose to the occasion thanks to leadership of (retired County Mayor Bill) Brittain and working with the Hamblen County Legislative Body. It was the largest capital project taken on by the county,69制片厂制作传媒 Cutshaw said.

Cutshaw noted that a justice center has been a need for some time.
69制片厂制作传媒淲e were recognized in the bottom five in the state for the justice center,69制片厂制作传媒 Cutshaw said. 69制片厂制作传媒淭he new center should serve our county for decades to come.69制片厂制作传媒
In the meantime, finishing construction on the inside of the new center has been delayed due to the contractor having trouble getting employees to help finish the inside of the facility. Cutshaw said that barring further delays, the county will take substantial ownership of the building in January with inmates coming into the facility in late March to early April.
Brittain was also honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the ETDD.
The ETDD is a Federal and State statute created agency to serve municipal and county governments that are located in the mid-east region of Tennessee.
