69制片厂制作传媒淚 got to thinking, 69制片厂制作传媒楲isa, you like to talk, but you don69制片厂制作传媒檛 usually do it in front of people,69制片厂制作传媒� she said. 69制片厂制作传媒淚 started doubting myself, but I went into the training and Gary (Matthews, executive director) said to make it personal.69制片厂制作传媒�

Grooms looked at the different United Way agencies. She was shocked how many of those agencies had helped her at one time.

69制片厂制作传媒淭hose babies had to stay somewhere because I was working a full-time job,69制片厂制作传媒� she said. 69制片厂制作传媒淭hey went to the Morristown-Hamblen Childcare Center. As they got older and I wanted to get rid of them for a while, they went to the Boys & Girls Club. Pool day was their favorite.69制片厂制作传媒�

At that time, Grooms found out that she was going to be out of work for a while. She went to her apartment manager and explained the situation. The next day, Grooms had a note on the door to call Morristown-Hamblen Central Services. The agency provided her with a check to pay her rent.

69制片厂制作传媒淭hey already knew about the situation,69制片厂制作传媒� Grooms said. 69制片厂制作传媒淚 went in and I had my rent check. For a single mom, that meant a lot.69制片厂制作传媒�

Her late husband, Butch, was active in the community, joining the Hamblen County Car Club and the Morristown Lions Club. She would 69制片厂制作传媒渢ag-along69制片厂制作传媒� with Butch. Still, she wanted something to call her own.

That was Stepping Out Ministries, founded by the late Patrice Puglise.

69制片厂制作传媒淚 received a message from them,69制片厂制作传媒� Grooms said. 69制片厂制作传媒淎fter interviewing with some of the board members and Puglise69制片厂制作传媒檚 passion was so contagious, it made you want to be a part of it.69制片厂制作传媒�

Grooms joined the Stepping Out board in March, 2015, where she still serves today.

Little did Grooms know how important Stepping Out would become in her life.

69制片厂制作传媒淎t the end of June, my husband Butch became ill. Within two weeks, he had a Stage IV cancer diagnosis. Butch said that he would fight it with everything he had. He was just that kind of person.69制片厂制作传媒�

Unfortunately, on July 27, Butch suffered a massive stroke which required him to be placed into Hospice. After initially being told that there was not a bed at Hospice Serenity House, he was able to go in soon thereafter on July 29. The only other choice she had for his Hospice care was a facility in West Knoxville.

69制片厂制作传媒淭hose volunteers and staff did whatever we needed,69制片厂制作传媒� Grooms said.

The next day, Lisa69制片厂制作传媒檚 mother went to the Serenity House to visit Butch.

69制片厂制作传媒淭ears were coming down her face,69制片厂制作传媒� Grooms said. 69制片厂制作传媒淭his is where we picked up Jacob.69制片厂制作传媒�

The building where Serenity House is located was once the infant care center of Morristown-Hamblen Childcare.

On July 31, Butch passed away.

At Butch69制片厂制作传媒檚 funeral, Puglise came in support of Grooms.

At the next Stepping Out board meeting, Puglise strongly suggested that Grooms take the Automatic Positive Thinking class, saying that the class would get Grooms through the grief.

In July, 2017, she finally started the APT course. Grooms said that there were three turning points to the class.

69制片厂制作传媒淭he first was when we had to choose between two items and say why we chose the item,69制片厂制作传媒� she said. 69制片厂制作传媒淚 don69制片厂制作传媒檛 even remember what my second item was because I was so focused on the safety pin. Why? Because I was trying to keep things together. Patrice looked me in the eye and told me, 69制片厂制作传媒榊ou are holding things together.69制片厂制作传媒�69制片厂制作传媒�

Grooms went to her car and cried so hard.

69制片厂制作传媒淎 voice said, 69制片厂制作传媒榃hat more am I going to have to throw at you to make you realize you69制片厂制作传媒檝e got this?69制片厂制作传媒� I became more involved in the class, but not so much to help me, I wanted to help someone else,69制片厂制作传媒� she said. 69制片厂制作传媒淚 noticed there was a young lady. Everywhere she was, I was. If she wasn69制片厂制作传媒檛 sitting next to me, she was sitting near me. She acted like she wanted to talk to me, but she shied away from me. I wanted her to come to me in her own time.69制片厂制作传媒�

The lady got up the nerve to come to Grooms.

69制片厂制作传媒淪he asked if she could shake my hand,69制片厂制作传媒� Grooms said. 69制片厂制作传媒淎s we were shaking hands, she said, 69制片厂制作传媒業 just want to say thank you.69制片厂制作传媒� I asked why. She said, 69制片厂制作传媒楩or making me realize the kind of woman I want to be.69制片厂制作传媒� That sort of blew me away a little bit. She said, 69制片厂制作传媒榊ou talk to us, you don69制片厂制作传媒檛 talk down to us.69制片厂制作传媒�69制片厂制作传媒�

Grooms did a lot of soul-searching and realized it was anger that she was going through.

69制片厂制作传媒淚 wasn69制片厂制作传媒檛 angry that Butch had passed away,69制片厂制作传媒� Grooms said. 69制片厂制作传媒淚 had become angry about everything being dropped in my lap. I had let that anger fester up inside of me so much that it was dictating my life. It was dictating how I was thinking, doing, feeling and reacting.69制片厂制作传媒�

The final turning point came the last night of her class.

69制片厂制作传媒淲e were given a rock,69制片厂制作传媒� she said. 69制片厂制作传媒淭he rock represented what was holding us back, what was keeping us from doing what we want to do and being who we want to be. I sat there with that rock in my hand, I was oblivious to what was going on around me because all I was thinking was, 69制片厂制作传媒楥ould I let it go?69制片厂制作传媒� My heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest because I was literally scared to let it go.69制片厂制作传媒�

Some that night couldn69制片厂制作传媒檛 let their rocks go.

69制片厂制作传媒淚69制片厂制作传媒檓 here to tell you, that before the rock hit the bottom of that bag, the weight was lifted off of me,69制片厂制作传媒� she said. 69制片厂制作传媒淚 felt it lift off me. I was free and I69制片厂制作传媒檒l never forget the look on Patrice69制片厂制作传媒檚 face and I praise God every day that that woman never gave up on me. She saw what I was doing to myself and made me face that.

69制片厂制作传媒淲hen I walked out of Stepping Out that night, I knew what I wanted to do and the person I wanted to be,69制片厂制作传媒� Grooms said. 69制片厂制作传媒淓very year since, I69制片厂制作传媒檝e done something to push me along the way.69制片厂制作传媒�

Grooms got more involved in the Lions Club, became more active in the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce. She joined the Rotary Club.

69制片厂制作传媒淚69制片厂制作传媒檓 a prime example that those monies are not wasted,69制片厂制作传媒� Grooms said.
