Thompson scored 37 points to lead the Greene Devils to a 71-45 win over the Grizzlies. Zayden Anderson added 10 points for Greeneville in the victory. Carter Williams led Grainger with 13 points and Grant Jarnigan provided a spark as he netted 10 points.
Thompson hit two threes and had a pair of dunks in the first quarter as he set the tone for his team early on. Grainger kept fighting and when Kade Williams, Landon Foster and Jarnigan combined to score six points in a row, the Grizzlies were in striking distance at 26-14. The Greene Devils were in no mood to allow a comeback, however, as the reeled off 12 points in a row to close out the first half.
Carter Williams scored five quick points to open the second half but once again the Devils turned to Thompson and he delivered, scoring six points in a row. The third period saw the home team control the pace as Grainger actually outscored Greeneville 20-12. Thompson put the game away to begin the fourth as he scored seven in a row, which included his third triple of the game, to carry the Greene Devils to a 71-45 victory.
