While one bargain outlet retailer is closing its doors in East Morristown, another one that was on the chopping block may have new life.
Last week, in a filing in the Big Lots69制片厂制作传媒 bankruptcy case, a list of locations to be taken over by Variety Wholesalers included locations in Jefferson City, Greeneville, Rogersville and on the East end of Morristown. The locations were part of 14 overall in Tennessee that could be saved under new management.
Big Lots 69制片厂制作传媒 an Ohio based company - filed for bankruptcy last year. Gordon Brothers Retail Partners purchased the company and put several stores up for sale.
Last week, it was announced that Variety Wholesalers would take over 200 locations, including the ones in Morristown, Rogersville, Jefferson City and Greeneville. These stores 69制片厂制作传媒 should they remain open 69制片厂制作传媒 will keep the Big Lots brand.
Prior to the bankruptcy, Big Lots had more than 870 stores nationwide.
The announcement comes as Nashville-based Bargain Hunt is closing down all of its stores as well as its distribution center in Middle Tennessee in the wake of a bankruptcy filing.
All Bargain Hunt stores are expected to close by the end of the month.
The news was not all bad, however, as In-N-Out, a California-based burger chain, is preparing a large rollout of Tennessee locations, according to the Memphis Business Journal.
President Lynsi Snyder Ellingson told the Journal she69制片厂制作传媒檇 fallen in love with the whole state and has 35 possible locations, including three to five stores in Knoxville, two or three in the Tri-Cities and one in Morristown.
There is also a new regional office under construction in Franklin, the Journal said.
