You69制片厂制作传媒檙e going to get everybody69制片厂制作传媒檚 best shot and for me as a competitor, that69制片厂制作传媒檚 what I want. We want to have to go out and compete and get everyone69制片厂制作传媒檚 best effort because that is going to make us better. We just have to go out and be us and find our identity as this year69制片厂制作传媒檚 football team.69制片厂制作传媒�

Jefferson County saw that firsthand in their first, and only, scrimmage of the preseason. Taking on Knox West, Riley said his team got a 69制片厂制作传媒渓ittle bit of humble pie69制片厂制作传媒� and could take some attributes away from what they saw out of the Rebels.

69制片厂制作传媒淚 thought we got a little bit of humble pie against Knox West,69制片厂制作传媒� Riley said. 69制片厂制作传媒淚 think it69制片厂制作传媒檚 something we took and learned our lesson from. It was one of those things where it was good to get a little humility about yourself. But, no matter the outcome of that scrimmage, we69制片厂制作传媒檙e a really good football team and that was a really good football team we played. We can take some things away from what they did and that69制片厂制作传媒檚 to be more physical and to play as fast and hard as you can every snap. You69制片厂制作传媒檙e always going to have a mistake, but if you play physical, hard and fast, those things cover up your problems.69制片厂制作传媒�

As far as strengths, Riley said it starts with his offensive line and the guy they69制片厂制作传媒檙e blocking for. Mason Henderson enters his second year as the Patriots69制片厂制作传媒� starting quarterback, throwing for 1,557 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2023.

69制片厂制作传媒淚 do believe that our strength should be our offensive and defensive line,69制片厂制作传媒� Riley said. 69制片厂制作传媒淭hat69制片厂制作传媒檚 where we return our most guys that have played a lot. I think our quarterback should be a strength, being a second year starter. Now, we69制片厂制作传媒檙e looking for him to take the next step in the intermediate passing game. That69制片厂制作传媒檚 the hardest part in football is the intermediate passing game. You either can be really good at throwing it long or throwing it short, but you have to have that intermediate passing game. We69制片厂制作传媒檙e getting better at that.69制片厂制作传媒�

Two guys on that offensive line that Riley will rely heavily on are Nic Moore and Christian Wilson. Moore is a senior committed to play at UT, while Wilson is a junior regarded highly by his head coach.

69制片厂制作传媒淭heir physicality sets them apart from everybody,69制片厂制作传媒� Riley said. 69制片厂制作传媒淏oth of them are super smart guys that can fix problems. Christian can fix just about anything we throw at him on the offensive line. It69制片厂制作传媒檚 super impressive to have a high school kid who can do that. He can handle anything. Nic69制片厂制作传媒檚 physicality and being a vocal leader set him apart. I want to see him be that dominant player every single snap and every single day.69制片厂制作传媒�

The running back room is another spot that is seen as a strength for Jefferson County. While they are replacing star back Omarian Mills, the Patriots return Skylar Thomas and Shawn Jackson.

Last season, Thomas ran for 660 yards and 11 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Jackson ran for 471 yards and two touchdowns while also catching 26 passes for 476 yards and five scores. Jackson will play receiver this year, as well, while both will also play prominent roles in the secondary.

He69制片厂制作传媒檚 learning how to do that. Shawn can play receiver and running back and does a great job. When he69制片厂制作传媒檚 healthy, we69制片厂制作传媒檙e a different team.69制片厂制作传媒�

At receiver, the Patriots will have to replace Bryson Letterman but have depth. Henderson69制片厂制作传媒檚 targets include Dakoda Haun, Christian Rodriguez, Luke Messer, Dante Houston and Raymond Landry.

69制片厂制作传媒淲e feel like they69制片厂制作传媒檙e all very talented and explosive,69制片厂制作传媒� Riley said. 69制片厂制作传媒淚 think it will be different from last year because we have more pieces that we can get the ball to. They all do different things, and that69制片厂制作传媒檚 the nice part of it.69制片厂制作传媒�

Defensively, Jefferson County has to replace four linebackers that combined for over 300 tackles last season. Some of those players that Riley will look to are Waylon Holt, Sean Young, Kaiden Collins, Stephen Adame, Johnny Rosenbalm and Jackson Long.

Schedule wise, Jefferson County has a difficult start to the season with a home game against Oak Ridge, a road game against Sevier County, a home game against Science Hill, a road game against D-B and a home game against Morristown East.

Both Oak Ridge and Sevier County were Region Champions. We follow with Science Hill, Dobyns-Bennett and Morristown East. You have to be able to handle those things early. You have to be able to play sound and fundamental football.69制片厂制作传媒�

The schedule concludes for Jefferson County with road games at Morristown West and West Ridge, home games against Farragut and Cocke County and a road game against William Blount.

In terms of goals, Riley said that his team wants to be playing football in December.

69制片厂制作传媒淲e just have to be consistent and stay healthy,69制片厂制作传媒� Riley said. 69制片厂制作传媒淲e need to continue to improve each week. If we can improve one percent each week by the time we get to wherever that may be, I69制片厂制作传媒檒l be ok. I just want us to say we got better each week.69制片厂制作传媒�

Jefferson County opens the season at home against Oak Ridge. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
