You69制片厂制作传媒檝e got to remember the past. We are here because of what the seeds that were planted, the sacrifices that were made before.69制片厂制作传媒�

Barbara Baker, longtime DAR member and registrar, said their chapter was working hard to improve and enhance civic education.

69制片厂制作传媒淚t69制片厂制作传媒檚 an organization that honors our country,69制片厂制作传媒� she said. 69制片厂制作传媒淚t tries to promote the history of our country. We like to get into the schools and give the Good Citizen Awards and some of the American History Awards and even give awards to teachers.69制片厂制作传媒�

This year69制片厂制作传媒檚 Good Citizen winners from local high schools were present at the January meeting and gave positive energy as they read essays to the chapter. The winners are:

69制片厂制作传媒� Grainger High School69制片厂制作传媒檚 Dominick Hylton, son of Roger and Amber Hylton. His school counselor is Rachel Harris.

69制片厂制作传媒� Morristown69制片厂制作传媒揈ast High School69制片厂制作传媒檚 Amanda Bean, daughter of Sharon Bean. Her school counselor is Mary Seals.

69制片厂制作传媒� Washburn High School69制片厂制作传媒檚 Rylee Coffman, daughter of Brandon and Trina Coffman, grandmother Penny Coffman. Her school counselor is Becky Bolden.

69制片厂制作传媒� Morristown69制片厂制作传媒揥est High School69制片厂制作传媒檚 Charles Dewald, son of Chuck and Kendra Dewald. His school counselor is Erica Gillett.

Each student assembled a packet of information consisting of school activities and awards, their interests, education and career goals, aspirations in life and activities in the community, along with two letters of recommendation.

In addition, they were asked to describe the importance of the four qualities of a DAR Good Citizen (dependability, service, leadership and patriotism) and tell how they have exhibited these qualities in their life.

The final part of the student packet required completing a timed essay, maximum of 550 words, under supervision, on a topic that was revealed to the student at a designated time. The student did not have prior knowledge of the topic nor access to reference materials other than a dictionary. The Essay Title was Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It. Each school69制片厂制作传媒檚 DAR Good Citizen received a DAR Good Citizen pin, certificate and wallet recognition card in addition to a check from Samuel Doak Chapter.

A panel of three independent judges reviewed and scored the packets and essays of each of the four DAR Good Citizen entries.

West High School69制片厂制作传媒檚 Charlie Dewald was selected by the judges as the Samuel Doak Chapter NSDAR69制片厂制作传媒檚 Good Citizen Award winner.

Charlie Dewald will advance to the DAR District Level where his packet and essay will be entered in the DAR Good Citizens Scholarship Contest.
