A man wanted on warrants out of Ohio died Wednesday if a self-inflicted gunshot wound suffered as Cocke County Sheriff69制片厂制作传媒檚 deputies approached, according to a release from Sheriff CJ Ball.
According to the sheriff, an agency out of Ohio has contacted the Sheriff69制片厂制作传媒檚 Office to have the warrants served at a residence on Timber Lake Drive in Cosby.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke the residence owner who told them the wanted man was inside.
When deputies entered the home, they discovered the man was upstairs. He went into a bedroom and shut the door. When deputies started up the stairs, they heard a shot and then a second.
Other deputies brough in shields for protection and the officer entered the bedroom where they found the man suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
First aid was rendered, and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene, but the suspect did not survive.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol assisted in the attempt to apprehend the man and the Cocke County Criminal Investigation Division is working the case. The investigation remains ongoing.
The District Attorney has been notified and the man69制片厂制作传媒檚 body was taken to the Knoxville Forensic Center for autopsy.
No officers or anyone else in the home were injured.
