听The game between 7th-ranked Tennessee and Kent State was never a contest as the Volunteers scored the most points since 1929 in a 71-0 plastering of the Golden Flashes. Most of the scoring binge came in the first two quarters as the Vols led 37-0 at the end of the first quarter and added 28 more in the second half.
听Tennessee had 740 yards of total offense which included 456 on the ground compared to only 33 yards for Kent State. UT had 32 first downs compared to seven for the Golden Flashes. The home team averaged 9.2 yards per play and 17.8 yards per reception. The Vols scored on every possession they had except the last one where they turned the ball over on downs with听1:58听谤别尘补颈苍颈苍驳.
Nico Iamaleava went 10-for-16 for 173 yards in his short outing as the UT quarterback before turning things over to Gaston Moore who was a perfect 4-for-4 for 94 yards a touchdown. DeSean Bishop amassed 120 yards with two scores and Dylan Sampson had 101 yards on the ground and scored four times. The Vols used 10 rushers and 11 receivers.
No Tennessee drive took more than听3:28听to complete except for the final one that was just under seven minutes in the fourth quarter where Max Gilbert kicked a 21-yard field goal, one of the two three-pointers he hit on the night to go along with boat-load of extra points. The defense produced a safety and was led by Edrees Farooq who had six total tackles. Kent State ended with 112 yards of total offense.
