Cutshaw proceeded to read a proclamation honoring Hackney for his many years of service to citizens and his accomplishments including:

69制片厂制作传媒� Serving on the MATS homeless shelter board for over 35 years

69制片厂制作传媒� Being active with United Way of Hamblen County since 1979 and winning the Joe Q. Dougherty Volunteer of the Year Award in 2015

69制片厂制作传媒� 48 years of service in the banking industry

69制片厂制作传媒� A U.S. Army veteran

69制片厂制作传媒� A knack for storytelling recognized by many and featured on local radio

69制片厂制作传媒淭herefore I, Chris Cutshaw, mayor of Hamblen County, do hereby declare today, Wednesday, December 12, 2024 as Terry Michael Hackney Day.69制片厂制作传媒�

Hackney listened with appreciation and thanked those who were present.

69制片厂制作传媒淚 don69制片厂制作传媒檛 know what to say,69制片厂制作传媒� he said. 69制片厂制作传媒淚69制片厂制作传媒檓 just not that smart 69制片厂制作传媒� I had a lot of people help me along the way. I never thought I69制片厂制作传媒檇 make it two years (in the banking industry)...69制片厂制作传媒�

Hackney was very moved by the show of appreciation and kept his remarks short, but there was no shortage of good things said about him.

CNB Market President Chris Horn had worked with Hackney since Horn began a second career in banking and said he was blessed to 69制片厂制作传媒渉ave become one of Terry69制片厂制作传媒檚 good friends and banking cohorts.69制片厂制作传媒�

69制片厂制作传媒淭erry and I officed right next door to each other and I was a rookie,69制片厂制作传媒� Horn said. 69制片厂制作传媒淏y that, at that point in his career, Terry had been banking for about 20 plus years. So he was the seasoned veteran and we just kind of formed a fast friendship and got to know each other.

69制片厂制作传媒淭erry, in addition to his great sense of humor, is a tremendous storyteller. He can tell stories and recall details of events that took place, who was involved, who did what, about as good as anybody I69制片厂制作传媒檝e ever met. Those things have really paved the way for a great banking career because he can disarm people and make them feel like they69制片厂制作传媒檙e buddies so quickly. Terry just has a great way with people and it69制片厂制作传媒檚 through that funny bone of his and his great storytelling that people just are endeared to him so easily.

69制片厂制作传媒淪o he69制片厂制作传媒檚 just built relationships over the years that have stood the test of time because Terry69制片厂制作传媒檚 a salt-of-the-earth guy. Not only is he a comedian and a great storyteller, but he69制片厂制作传媒檚 a straight shooter. He69制片厂制作传媒檚 honest as the day is long. He69制片厂制作传媒檚 got a high level of integrity.69制片厂制作传媒�

Hackney said that banking has always been about treating people right and helping them.

69制片厂制作传媒�(People should be bankers) if they like people,69制片厂制作传媒� he said. 69制片厂制作传媒淚f you69制片厂制作传媒檙e a numbers person, you need to be an accountant. You know, I always say, I69制片厂制作传媒檓 not that smart. If you can add two and two, you can pretty well get part of the math. But, I mean, it69制片厂制作传媒檚 about the people 69制片厂制作传媒� you69制片厂制作传媒檝e got to like dealing with people and helping people more.

69制片厂制作传媒淚n banking, I think the biggest thing is being able to help people. You see people that work hard and start out with zero and end up doing well. Being able to help them get their homes, their cars, and being able to help people, I think that69制片厂制作传媒檚 the biggest thing.

69制片厂制作传媒淚 never was the smartest banker or the best banker, but I always tried to be the most honest and the hardest worker.69制片厂制作传媒�

While he69制片厂制作传媒檚 made a career in the bankning industry, Hackney didn69制片厂制作传媒檛 predict that path.

69制片厂制作传媒�(48 years is) a long time to be a banker, when, at first, I didn69制片厂制作传媒檛 think I69制片厂制作传媒檇 last two years,69制片厂制作传媒� he said. 69制片厂制作传媒淚t wasn69制片厂制作传媒檛 a career I chose. I always figured I69制片厂制作传媒檇 end up back in Kentucky, driving a coal truck, after I got out of the Army. But I went to Walters State and sort of fell into it.69制片厂制作传媒�

Many people at his retirement party agreed that Hamblen County has been better for his presence, especially in his service to MATS and United Way and other non-profits.

69制片厂制作传媒淭erry is just a giving person and you see him everywhere,69制片厂制作传媒� United Way of Hamblen County Executive Director Gary Matthews said. 69制片厂制作传媒淲e69制片厂制作传媒檝e had him as a United Way Volunteer and the Special Gifts Division has sort of been his here in the last few years. He69制片厂制作传媒檚 done a super job and gone over his division goal every year. So I appreciate Terry and I consider him a good friend.69制片厂制作传媒�

MATS Executive Director Tonya Polidaro said it would be hard to overstate how much of an impact Hackney had made in serving the homeless clients whose lives have changed for the better over the course of his time helping with the ministry.

69制片厂制作传媒淭erry has been on the board at MATS for almost 40 years,69制片厂制作传媒� she said. 69制片厂制作传媒淗e69制片厂制作传媒檚 just an amazing guy. He helps wherever he can and is just the biggest advocate. When he gets on a board and gets focused, he is on it. He69制片厂制作传媒檚 dedicated. We69制片厂制作传媒檙e happy to be able to see him retire and spend more time with his family and wife.69制片厂制作传媒�

69制片厂制作传媒淏ut he69制片厂制作传媒檚 still on the board (at MATS) and is still going to be active in the community,69制片厂制作传媒� Polidaro said with a palpable sense of relief.

69制片厂制作传媒淚69制片厂制作传媒檒l stay active because I don69制片厂制作传媒檛 want to go home,69制片厂制作传媒� Hackney confirmed. 69制片厂制作传媒淚 plan to stay involved with the people, get out in the community and stuff. I69制片厂制作传媒檝e got a son lives in Georgia, I69制片厂制作传媒檓 going to go down there more often. I69制片厂制作传媒檓 a person that can69制片厂制作传媒檛 sit still, so I won69制片厂制作传媒檛.69制片厂制作传媒�
