HOLCOMB, Miss. - A 10-week-old baby boy from Mississippi who had been missing for days was returned home during the early hours of Saturday, according to the Grenada County Sheriff's Office (GCSO).
The sheriff's office said the baby boy was left on the doorsteps of his mother's home in Grenada County. He was found inside a plastic box wrapped in a blanket and had on a plastic zip lock bag for a diaper.
Deputies and first responders were on scene shortly after the discovery, GCSO said.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) previously said the baby was last seen just after 7:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 on the 700 block of Powell Road in Grenada County, Miss. The county is about 90 minutes south of Memphis.听
The baby was reportedly with Anthony Rayshun Mitchell, a man about 5-foot-6 and 178 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, officials said.
As of Saturday morning, authorities were still searching for Mitchell. The Grenada County Sheriff's Office said Saturday he would "likely" face more charges "after this morning's discovery."
"We praise GOD that this innocent child is back with his mother and receiving proper care," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
If you've seen Mitchell, MBI urged you to call the Grenada County Sheriff's Department at 662-688-7299 or 911.听
