JOHNSON CITY--Morristown East posted its first victory of the season by dumping Cocke County, 70-62, Friday night in the DoubleTree Roundball Showcase at Science Hill High School.
Nate Ball and Isaac Greene fired in 18 points apiece and Cory Carpenter added 10 as the Hurricanes finished 1-2 in the two-day event.
Earlier Friday, East suffered a tough loss to Rhea County, 73-69. In their only contest on Saturday, host Science Hill hammered the 69制片厂制作传媒楥anes 82-38.
Coach Brice Cusick69制片厂制作传媒榮 club is now 1-8 for the season and will play host to William Blount on Tuesday.
East shot a healthy 50 percent from the floor in its victory and was near perfect from the free throw line in going 15 of 16.
Cocke County, now 2-5, was led by its two big men with Kyler Hayes pouring in 21 and Ethan Fine adding 18.

East made 23 of 46 from the floor including 9 of 25 from behind the arc. The Fighting Cockes were 22 of 56 for 39.3 percent and hit only 3 of 15 three-point tries.
The Big Red totally dominated the boards with a 49-19 advantage. Hayes raked off 16 stray shots for the winners while Jaxson had six and Anderson five for the 69制片厂制作传媒楥anes.
East fell behind 4-0 early but roared back to grab a 13-7 lead after one quarter. Greene had five points and Nate Ball and Grant Johnson had three69制片厂制作传媒檚 for East with Hayes scoring six for the Big Red.
Carpenter and Archer had baskets to open the second frame to shove the lead to 11 before Cocke County rallied within 29-26. However, Greene and Carpenter hit three69制片厂制作传媒檚 in the final minutes of the half and East led 35-26 at intermission.
A rebound bucket by Eli Roberts got the Big Red within 37-36 halfway through the third frame before Carpenter scored five points, Ball hit two more triples and Noe added one and East led 50-43 at the final break.
In the fourth quarter, Archer and Noe had two baskets each and East used its deadly free throw shooting to hold on for the win after Cocke County closed within 59-54 on a free throw by Fine with 2:57 left.
The 69制片厂制作传媒楥anes then hit eight straight charity tosses in the final 1:18.
Rhea County 73 East 69
East poured through 17 three-point baskets but it wasn69制片厂制作传媒檛 enough as the Eagles won it by making 24 of 32 free throws to just 8 of 9 for the 69制片厂制作传媒楥anes.
Ball nailed six triples and Greene added five as they scored 18 points each to lead the Hurricanes. Carpenter added 10.
Rhea County, now 4-3, had four in double figures led by Caleb Carr69制片厂制作传媒檚 16. Keshawn Smith added 14, Sammy Ervin 13 and Braylon Geer 10.
The Eagles raced away to an 11-0 lead to start the game and were on top 22-16 after one period. Ervin had nine in the quarter while Ball hit four treys for East.
Rhea County led by as many as 13 in the second stanza but the 69制片厂制作传媒楥anes closed within 41-31 at halftime as Carpenter had eight in the quarter.
The 69制片厂制作传媒楥anes battled back within 45-42 on a three by Ball with 4:35 left in the quarter and trailed by just 53-47 at the end of the period.
Greene hit four triples in the last canto but it wasn69制片厂制作传媒檛 enough as the Eagles hit 10 of 12 free throws. East closed it down to 67-66 but the winner made six free throws in the final 28 seconds for the win.
East was 22 of 52 from the floor for 42.3 percent. The 69制片厂制作传媒楥anes connected on 17 of 38 threes. Rhea County was 22 of 51 for 43,1 percent including 5 of 17 from behind the arc. The winners had a 38-31 backboard advantage.
Science Hill 82 East 38
It was never a game as the Hilltoppers scored 13 straight points in the middle of the first quarter to break out of a 3-3 tie and poured it on to the finish.
Big 6-feet-6 Logan Roberts scored 11 in that spurt and dominated inside throughout the game. He finished with 20 to lead four 69制片厂制作传媒楾oppers in double figures. Darion Jackson added 15, Oliver Peterson 14 and L. J. Ruiz 10.
Ball hit four three-pointers and was the lone Hurricane in double figures with a dozen. Ball finished the three games with 14 treys. Archer had eight points.
Science Hill was up 25-7 after one quarter and upped the margin to 30 (49-19) at halftime. It was 69-36 after three and the home team had a 13-2 margin in the final quarter.

Roberts scored inside with a variety of moves to the hoop and also knocked down three-pointers.
The Hilltoppers, now 5-2 for the season, shot a hot 63.5 percent from the floor that included 10 of 21 threes. East managed only 10 of 39 for 25.6 percent. The 69制片厂制作传媒楥anes were 6 of 22 on three-point tries.
Science Hill won the rebound battle, 31-17.
