The Detective Division of the Hawkins County Sheriff69制片厂制作传媒檚 Office was recently involved in a child pornography investigation that resulted in federal grand jury indictments against Paul Thomas Morrison III, 32, of Church Hill.
According to Sheriff Ronnie Lawson, Morrison was arrested by the HCSO on Oct. 18 on a federal grand jury indictment warrant on charges of receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
The federal grand jury indictments were out of U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, Greeneville Division.
The federal indictments allege that from at least April 2024 up to and including at least May 25, 2024, Morrison knowingly received child pornography that had been mailed, shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce by any means, including by computer.
The indictments also allege that on about Sept. 13, 2024, Morrison knowingly possessed material that contained an image of child pornography, including images of minors under the age of 12, that had been mailed, shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce by any means, including by computer, or were produced using material which had been mailed, shipped or transported using any means or facility of interstate or foreign commerce by any means, including by computer.
Morrison was arraigned in Greeneville Federal Court on Oct. 18 and requested a detention hearing, which was postponed until Morrison determines whether he will be able to retain counsel.
Morrison remains held in federal custody in Greeneville. A trial date of March 4 was scheduled.
