The Bucs earned a weekend off after rallying to beat Samford 31-28 on October 12. Offense was the name of the game against the Bulldogs as ETSU rolled up 455 total yards. The defense was not to be outdone as the Blue and Gold held Samford to only 13 rushing yards, thanks in large part to dumping Bulldog quarterbacks seven times on sacks.
Prevailing over the Bulldogs moved ETSU to 4-3 on the season which surpasses the win total the Bucs had in a single season in both 2022 and 2023. They stand at 2-1 in the SoCon and are still very much in the hunt for a conference title and possible playoff appearance. The Bucs are averaging 419 yards per game through five contests this season and are using a balanced attack with the ground game being anchored by Bryson Irby who has 515 rushing yards and five touchdowns and Jaylen King69制片厂制作传媒檚 1,125 yards through the air with eight scores.
ETSU travels to Spartanburg, S.C. this week to take on a 3-4 Wofford team that is coming off a 37-5 loss at Chattanooga last week. The first half between the Terriers and Mocs was a close affair as Chattanooga only led 10-5 at the half but were able to bust the game open in third quarter with 17 points and then add 10 more in the final frame. The Terriers are led by safety C.J. Coombes who has been named to the watch list for the Jerry Rice Award that goes to the top freshman in FCS football.
Kickoff between the Bucs and Terriers is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday.
