The Fraternal Order of Police, Cherokee Lodge No. 4, is working to make sure the children see officers on their side. The FOP was collecting teddy bears and other stuffed animals to stuff a Hamblen County Sheriff69制片厂制作传媒檚 Office cruiser Saturday at College Square Mall.
69制片厂制作传媒淲e set up here every year at this time of year and we stuff a cruiser with Teddy Bears,69制片厂制作传媒 FOP Cherokee Chapter Don Baird said. 69制片厂制作传媒淲e take those animals and divide them out between the Hamblen County Justice Center and the Hamblen County Courthouse. We69制片厂制作传媒檒l put them into cruisers and police cars so when officers come across kids that have issues or whatever, or in the courtroom we give them out to calm children down and get them through bad situations.69制片厂制作传媒 Baird also said that the animals let children know that the law enforcement officers are on their side. 69制片厂制作传媒淚t69制片厂制作传媒檚 something for the children to have a good impression of law enforcement,69制片厂制作传媒 he said. 69制片厂制作传媒淭o associate the uniform with a good thing.69制片厂制作传媒
There was something for all ages at the event. Some children colored pictures in coloring books that they could keep. Hamblen County Sheriff Chad Mullins was 69制片厂制作传媒渄eputizing69制片厂制作传媒 children to try to keep them away from alcohol, drugs and other bad influences. Fingerprinting was also going on with photos taken of children in the event they should get separated from parents or family members. The FOP also sponsors the annual 69制片厂制作传媒淪hop with a Cop69制片厂制作传媒 event for children whose parents are incarcerated or disadvantaged.
