SEVIERVILLE69制片厂制作传媒擳he best volleyball season in Cocke County history came to a screeching halt Monday night as District One champion Science Hill rolled to a 3-0 victory over the Lady Red in the semifinals of the Region 1-AAA Tournament at Sevier County High School.
Playing in their first-ever region, the Lady Red was no match for Science Hill which registered its 35th win of the season with a 25-17, 25-22, 25-11 victory.
The Lady 69制片厂制作传媒楾oppers, who have lost five times, took on Tennessee High for the championship on Tuesday night at home. The Lady Vikings ended Sevier County69制片厂制作传媒檚 run with a 25-22, 19-25, 25-20, 25-16 win in Monday69制片厂制作传媒檚 opening match.
It marked the sixth time in the last seven years that District One teams swept the first-round matches. Both also locked up spots in the sectional with the wins.
Chelsea Blaine collected 14 kills, Addi Stables added 10 and Bryleigh Scott eight to lead Science Hill. Ella Neal handed out 39 assists for the winners. Campbell Hixson had 16 digs, Avery Bragg 13 and Claire Hunter 10.
Cocke County closed its season with a 17-8 worksheet and runner-up spots in the District 2 regular season and tournament.
Shayna Williams had seven kills and an ace for the Lady Red with Karmine Carmichael adding six kills and two blocks.

In the opening set, three serving errors by the Lady 69制片厂制作传媒楾oppers had the scoretied at 3-3 but the winners reeled off nine consecutive points. Stables knocked down three kills and added a block in the spurt.
Cocke County finally got going and closed within 14-10 and trailed by only six when the winners closed the set with a 4-1 run.
Five straight points had the Lady Red on top 8-2 in the second set and they stretched the margin to 12-5. However, Science Hill used an 8-2 spurt to close within one and finally caught up at 15-15 on a kill by Clara McBride.
The streak continued as Stables added a kill and Blaine served an ace to give the winners a 17-15 lead. Cocke County regained the upper hand with three hitting errors by the Lady 69制片厂制作传媒楾oppers and a winner by Jaycee Smith gave the Lady Red a 22-20 lead.
But, a serve went out of bounds and Blaine had three kills and Chloe Conner added another to give Science Hill a 25-22 decision.
The third set was close with three early ties before Conner69制片厂制作传媒檚 kill put the winners ahead 7-4. After a kill sailed long, the Lady Toppers turned it into a rout with a 14-1 run spurred by Blaine and three aces from Neal.
It was a bit of a strange setting. Usually, teams from the same district tend to support each other but the Tennessee High victory seemed to turn Sevier County into Science Hill cheerleaders.
Several members of the Bearettes sat on the front row of the bleachers waving Science Hill shakers and doing their normal bench routine of foot-stomping, yelling and screaming every time Cocke County was serving.
Sevier closed its season with a 15-13 record despite another great night from Maddie Singleton. Singleton had 13 kills in the first set alone and finished with 27 on the night. Millie Van Rensburg added 13.
The Lady Vikings scored the first six points in the match before falling behind 12-10 on back-to-back kills by Singleton. The home team still led 21-19 when Tennessee High closed with a 6-1 run.
Sevier took an early lead and led most of the way in the second set. It was 22-19 when Van Rensburg hammered three straight kills to even the match at 1-1.
Tennessee High broke out of a 5-5 tie with a 13-6 run to grab a big lead in set two. Singleton69制片厂制作传媒檚 four kills got her team back within 18-15 but three straight hitting errors moved the Lady Vikings back into a safe lead and the Bearettes got no closer than four down the stretch.
Sevier held the early lead in the final set when a 7-1 run turned a 10-8 deficit into a 15-11 lead for the visitors. The Bearettes stayed within striking distance but Tennessee closed out the match with the final four points.
It was the 30th win against 10 losses for Tennessee High and set up a fifth meeting with Science Hill this season.
Ashton Blair led the winners with 15 kills, 8 digs and three aces. Sophie Stallcup and Erin Littleton added six kills apiece. Bree Adams dealt out 30 assists while Addy Gentry and Camden Ward had 14 digs each.
