Barbara Jean Mantooth entered this life on March 4, 1935 and left this world on October 7, 2024. She was a member of Centerview Missionary Church and of the Baptist Faith.
Jean, as she was lovingly known to family and friends was born and raised to parents Clyde and Mildred Moyers. She met the love of her life, Charles and they married in 1954 and moved to Newport.
They purchased their home in Bybee, Tennessee in 1970 where they made many lifelong friends. Jean lived a very full life. She was blessed with 4 children. She loved to can and was an excellent cook. She was a devoted wife and mother who instilled strong values in her children. She taught herself to play piano at a young age by drawing notes on an old board. She played at churches, weddings and at her home for relaxation. She always worked alongside her husband in businesses in Newport Packing and Bybee Market until his passing in 1986.聽 She then worked for Food City and National Bank until her health started to decline. Sadly she was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in January 2012. Her family strived to keep memories alive and keep life normal as possible for her. She is now healed and with her beloved husband and parents.
Also preceded in death by sister and brother in law Betty and Don Myers, sister in law Helen Thomas, brother in law and wife Jimmy and Pauline Mantooth, father and mother in law Grover and Agnes Mantooth. Left to cherish the memories are Debbie (Ricky) Ellison, Rhonda Duncan, Chuck (Sue) Mantooth and Brad Mantooth, grandchildren Lindsay Ellison, Ashley Bower, Chelsie Duncan, Brittany Duncan, Megan Hill, Kellye Mantooth, Charla Brown, Tanner Mantooth and Bethany Segars,聽 7 great grandchildren, sister in law and husband Joyce and Bob Lane.
Graveside services will be held 1 pm on Thursday October 10, 2024 in Union Cemetery with Rev. Glen Ball officiating.
