Credit: TDOTMEMPHIS, Tenn. - A baby died and four other people were injured after a crash on Interstate 40 in northeast Memphis shut down traffic for hours Friday morning, police said.
The three-vehicle crash happened around 5:15 a.m. on I-40 between Appling and Whitten roads.
According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), a child under age 2 died in the crash while four other people 69制片厂制作传媒 three men and a woman听69制片厂制作传媒 were hospitalized. FOX13 arrived to find three vehicles had crashed out, including one flipped over on its side.
The child was traveling with a man and a woman in one vehicle, police said, while the two other vehicles were each occupied by a man.
Police said they were still investigating what led to the crash.
Lanes on westbound I-40 were closed for hours before reopening around 8:45 a.m., police said.
